  • Ok app for the price

I listen to audiobooks. The price is good but doesn’t work as well as Audible. Sometimes even when I download the book to my iPhone it won’t play. Also loses my place in the book and will start over from the beginning a lot! I have had trouble with it connecting to my Bluetooth in my vehicle at times as well. Very frustrating. When it works it’s great.

I tried Playster bc another program I had subscribed to is no longer offering audiobooks. Playster only had about 50-75% of my list from TuneIn and Audible...and most of these were “premium” books which would require a subscription of $30/mo. No thanks. I can do a platinum membership from Audible for cheaper plus be able to listen on 3 devices.

Playster promises to deliver 100,000.00 plus titles for $14.95 a month unlimited service but they have decided to change and move most of the books to the Premium service without notice and now want $61.00 a month. I have had Audible for years now and have never had a problem with service interruptions or a title suddenly disappearing like is common with Playster. It’s really a shame that they choose to be a shady company I liked the concept they pitched too bad they won’t deliver what they promised.

App closes by itself frequently while in use. Also even though you downloaded a book to your device sometimes you have to reconnect to wi-fi to get it to start playing.

I wanted to like Playster. However, the poor selection of audiobooks and very confusing interface made me cancel my trial and delete the App. Was this designed for a Windows Phone? It looks like tiles from Windows Mobile.
  • Very buggy

I’m not very pleased with this app. It is VERY buggy. It crashes a LOT. I’ve not started a book yet that it hasn’t frozen about an hour into it and I’ve had to delete the app and reinstall it. Then, I have to go find where I was in the book because it loses my place and starts over. I also have an issue with it not clearing my finished books. So, while I’m listening to new book, I get pop-ups asking if I want to finish my “unfinished book” that I’ve already finished. This causes the current book to freeze, and sometimes reset. The only good thing I can say is the customer service has been okay (only reason I didn’t give one star). I messaged them about the issues, and the app has gotten somewhat better, as far as not crashing as often. This is my first month to have it, and I’m still on the fence about keeping it. I didn’t receive the free trial, and was charged $29.95 for my first month. I’m not sure it’s worth that. I know it’s not worth the $38.95 I’ve seen some saying they are being charged.

I have to delete and redownload this app constantly because I can’t delete my unfinished audible books. Worst app I’ve ever had the pleasure to pay for. As soon as I reorder my Audible I’m canceling my membership.

UPDATE: After contacting Playster, they issued me a full refund for $24.99. I gave them an extra star since at least that was fairly painless. This company now has $26 of my money and I have not been able to listen to a single audiobook. I signed up for the free month trial only to discover I could only listen to samples of audiobooks. So I cancelled. They offered 3 months for 99 cents - I tried that - still couldn’t listen to more than samples. I thought I cancelled again, but apparently not as I was charged $24.99 today. Since I paid for it, I decided to give them another shot. Logged back into the app and it wouldn’t recognize I had premium content. Logged into the website and it showed I had premium, and that my phone was linked. Logged back out of app and signed in again, still no premium content. Deleted the app, reinstalled, still no premium content. I went back to the website and cancelled my subscription. The cancellation confirmation said I still had access until “Invalid Date” - presumably the date of cancellation should be when the month I WAS CHARGED FOR was up, but guess what? The website no longer shows I have access to premium, either. Going to message their support... This is minor in comparison to everything else, but the app is super glitchy in other areas as well. Ex: Every time I tried to add a book to a playlist, I got an error message.
