  • Only good if you pay for it

    By Hskbeownamielsl
Wish I would have known the free version only allows you to add 15 items before it tries to force you to pay for a subscription. It is a cool app if you actually want to pay the $13/year. It categorizes your items so it makes it easy to shop, but I did notice a lot of normal items aren’t listed and fall under the “other category”.
  • Great app

Great app, very useful and easy to use. But I have troubles to import Yummly recipes. Any idea please ?
  • Needs more features

Would love to see the following: 1) ability to add items directly from the stock to a meal plan (currently have to add it as a recipe, so single items like an apple would be considered a recipe or an ingredient in a recipe). 2) ability for the stock to auto-deduct items added to a meal plan (still have to manually deduct what's used.) 3) direct access to the catalog from the main menu (currently have to open a list before gaining access). As it stands, all the features of this app are great but almost function as standalone entities rather than being interconnected. The app doesn't talk to itself, if you will.

Update: I’m still giving you One star since you told me the recipe clipping feature (with Yummly) was fixed. IT IS NOT FIXED: IT IS STILL BROKEN. I have deleted the app since it no longer works for me. Since you don't respond to my emails anymore, I'm doing it this way. The clipping feature has been broken since last fall. It won't work with Yummly. I downloaded GroceryKing to save time, not make more work for myself. You assured me last fall that you would fix it but since then you've ignored every single time I've contacted you. My guess is that you don't plan on fixing it. I will change my review if and once this is fixed. If you don't fix it, I'll have no choice but to delete the app.
  • Simple & complete.

I have the Grocery King complete subscription and overall I’m happy with it. The app is easy for me to use but I’m a single person. I can see that if you have a larger family it could become a tedious task to keep up with. I try to utilize all the functionality of the app to get my money’s worth, so far everything seems to function and perform fluidly. I do notice minor glitches and some issues with picture uploading and connection from my desktop widget and recipe clipper. Although it’s not flawless, the minor bugs are not enough of a hassle for me to discontinue using the app. I’ve been a subscriber for 2 years and I’ve seen the app make some great strides along the way. I appreciate the dedication the developers have put into constant improvements for the app and can’t wait till it’s perfect. That being said, I do consider this app to be a work in progress but it works great for me and has everything I’ve been looking for in a kitchen management style application. About me: I cook from scratch every meal. Meal plan every week. Grocery shop between 3-4 times a week, visiting 4 stores including a local butcher and a farmers market. I do my own canning and make my own breads and condiments. I keep a full stock of spices and baking needs & have a fairly small pantry. I have a growing list of recipes and multi-course menus. I use this app to help me keep track of all of it.

This is the easiest grocery app I have tried yet.
  • Subscription? Really?

I like Grocery king although it’s not perfect and there are things that could make it perfect, but I purchased the full app on the android platform and have now switched to iPhone and now I have to pay for a subscription?? One time purchase I can understand but there are too many other equally good apps out there for this purpose, unless you’re going to order and deliver the groceries...🤔

Folks... this is an absolute rip off and shame on Apple for allowing them on their website. THESE "Pocket Lab" folks are more like "Pick Poceters." Their customer response is terrible (never reply to any emails). II used Grocery King (paid version) over the past 4 years with the promise from them that my 4-years worth of data was saved "in the cloud". I've switched phones... and guess what? It turns out that none of my data was saved. I am starting from scratch AGAIN with a different developer. When I wrote to their support about it, they refused to respond to any of my emails. Not even a "sorry," we can't help you... NOTHING. Avoid these RIPOFF ARTISTS and don't waste your money.
  • Great in Theory

I love this app! I really love the shopping functionality, automatic inventory tracking and the category functions. My only gripe is with the meal planning/recipe side. In theory, it's amazing, but it's extremely inefficient doing all of the meal planning and recipe adding (especially homemade) from a phone. I want to see an option to do this from a PC and have everything sync automatically.
  • Lots of potential and a few flaws.

Crashing fixed. Now I cannot login. Paid 12.99 for premium content, can't login to my account to access it. It just spins. --------------------------------- Constant crashes. Can no longer access recipes without crashing. ----------------------------------- They seem to have abandoned this app. No updates in months. It's by no means perfect. Could use some updating. ----------------------------------- I paid the $12 for the app. It's strong on shopping and inventory management. I can keep separate lists for each store. Then I can rearrange the shopping aisles to match the layout of each store, I can enter prices for each store. Then it will do a price comparison for each store. You can track coupons etc. I find recipe management almost unusable. First of all, the ingredients show up sorted by category or alphabetically, not in recipe order. Second, you can only add an ingredient to a recipe one time. This becomes a problem during recipe import. If you have a long recipe that has sections like Cake, Filling, Frosting etc, then it will only show the last entry for an ingredient. Say your cake calls for 1 1/2 cups of sugar and the icing calls for another 1/2 cup of sugar. All you will see is the 1/2 cup of sugar. Third, the app is not at all intuitive when it comes to ingredients. If you have an ingredient named EGGS and you import a recipe calling for one EGG, it creates a new ingredient called EGG rather than selecting EGGS. This rather defeats the purpose of the inventory tracker. I have a dozen EGGS in stock but no EGG. This is a problem because there is a status indicator on each recipe showing how many ingredients are in stock for a recipe at any time. So you cannot rely on this indicator. Fourth, you cannot add your own units of measure. --Update They are completely unresponsive to support requests. Would I recommend this product? Not really. If you want a solidly functioning recipe/inventory/menu/shopping app, try Meal Board. It is best I have tried so far. Grocery King has potential to surpass it. I hope GK will mature and reach its full potential, but it's not quite there. --12/2016 updates are few and far between
