Scenic Motorcycle Touring App Details

Why spend hundreds of dollars on an extra device while your phone can do the same and more? Find, Create, Import and Navigate great Roads and track your Touring Adventures. Although Scenic is designed for the motorcycle it's used by many old-timer and convertible drivers as well. It's basically for anyone with a motorised vehicle who enjoys a day (or longer) of touring. ROUTE PLANNING Scenic offers many many options to plan your tours: (1) Select a location and be navigate there along curvy roads. (2) Create a route yourself by dropping up to 200 via points with fast, short or curvy roads to get from one point to the next. (3) Import routes through many ways and many sources. For example: Scenic integrates with the Furkot, RouteYou and Kurviger.de online routeplanners and the Scenic WebApp makes it easy to import GPS files (GPX, KML, KMZ, GDB, ITN) and Google (My) Maps URLs. Simply drag and drop GPS files and copy/paste Google Maps URL's in the WebApp and the route will be waiting for you in Scenic on your phone. (4) As the only app of it's kind Scenic can make nearly every imported route navigable, even if it has thousands of points. (5) If you don't feel like creating or importing your own routes, you can choose from the many thousands of routes shared, rated and reviewed by fellow Scenic users. NAVIGATION Of course Scenic wouldn't be a good alternative to Motorcycle GPS units if it didn't offer navigation. The navigation screen has been especially designed for use on the motorcycle, with large fonts, a clear route line and a screen layout that enables you to see next turns in a quick glance. And of course Scenic also gives voice instructions (in 21 languages). Next to that Scenic has special features to guide you to the start point of a route and skip via points if you take a (deliberate or accidental) detour. TRACKING Scenic's tracking feature allows you to save your touring adventures for ever. With every ride you take, wether you're navigating a route or not, your ride is tracked. Scenic records your speed, the roads you took and the pictures taken along the way. Every trip you ever took can be shared on social media, exported to GPX files and even turned into a navigable route so you can ride it again. * Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. * Scenic has an optional Premium Subscription that gives you access to Premium Features (Voice Guidance, Route Import & Route & Trip export). The subscription automatically renews every year. The first payment will be charged to your iTunes Account at confirmation of the purchase. It automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged again within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period. Subscriptions may be managed by you and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to your Account Settings in the iTunes Store, also reachable through 'Manage Subscriptions' from the Scenic Settings menu.Current price for premium subscription is $10.99 USD per year, and may vary from country to country. • Best Available for Motorcyclist!

If you ride a motorcycle, then GET this app! I’ve evaluated a lot of apps and this one is a winner. Plus the customer support has been exceptional with next-day responses to my emails. I’ve only been evaluating SCENIC for a few days, but I’m so impressed that I’m planning to replace my Garmin gps with my waterproof iPhone 7 and SCENIC. I mostly ride cross country and camp along the way. So cell service / online service isn’t always available. SCENIC is intuitive to use and supports both online and offline planning including easily adding waypoints and making changes. When planning a trip, I start with my iPad (larger screen for old eyes!); SCENIC syncs the trip info to my iPhone; and then I use my iPhone on the motorcycle. Painless! Plus my trips often change direction en route (something new to see), but no problem. All the maps are already on your device, and modifying your route on the iPhone is simple, fast, and requires no online connection. So what’s missing? The app is relatively new and features such as POI’s, map overlays, topo’s, etc. are still on my wish list. But no other app comes close to meeting my requirements for motorcycling, and the pricing is less than a tank of gas for a high quality, user friendly app. And before someone asks, I’m not associated with the developer or receiving any incentives for this review. Off to ride! ..... 2018 - Quick update... first, still loving this app. Newly discovered bonus... was hoping I could use SCENIC as a backup GPS for my upcoming backpacking trip to a familiar CO wilderness area. The maps not only got me to the trailhead, but to my surprise also had the entire back country trail depicted (same as road) plus the streams and lakes. I’m hoping that someday the terrain features will be available. I for one would be more than willing to pay additional for this feature.
  • I’m really thankful someone creates this app.

The night before a big ride I decided I need to up my trip planning and route guidance tools. I was still using routes designed in Google Maps that I printed and stuffed into my tank map pocket. I would run Waze as a way to always know where on the map I was. I was not willing to shell out the money for a dedicated GPS as I knew someone would eventually come up with an app for us bikers...hello Scenic. I less tag an hour I designed the route using Google My Maps, downloaded the KMZ file, dropped it into the Scenic Desktop App. Open the app on your iPhone, complete the download and go ride. Everything went flawless until my phone died on hour 6 the day of the ride (didn’t know my charger cord came unplugged under my seat). Given that, my ONLY comment would be to have the battery status be visible while using the app - oh, current time of day as well. Thx Guido!

No instructions. Plugged in North SF Bay address with destination of Sacramento, the state capital and there were No routes. Yeah right with the entire California Delta or swinging North through the Napa Valley and then east. According to app I live in a featureless desert!

Took my maiden voyage with scenic this weekend. Traveled many areas that my phone did not have cell service. Never missed a turn. Had some issues with voice prompt. I finally got it to work. I am sure it was operator error. I noticed that the road that i was currently on was not displaying. I searched in the settings for this function and did not find it. That would be a nice addition in the next upgrade. All in all this is a very easy to use app and is well worth the price of the premium package.

This is by far the most useful motorcycle app I have on my phone. Pricing is fair and sustainable for the developer. Well worth it,!
  • Not bad motorcycling Nav app

I am on a 2200 mile trip and Scenic has routed me the wrong direction a couple times so far. Maybe user error. The voice prompts are awful and could be much better. I am using inRoute to plot my trip by day and exporting to Scenic. Will write more later in the trip.
  • It’s ok

Would be better if you could see streets. Not sure why you have to download state info, if nothing shows up? Going to look for other apps that show detailed maps with streets, rather than continents and lakes.
