  • Crashes every few months

    I never had any problems with this app until they started with the updates. Ever since then it crashed and nobody had access to it for awhile they have kept messing with it and trying to make it better. But every few months it just crashes and I just have to delete it and reinstall it. The major problem is that when this happens, I lose my InstaFreebies. I still have a lot of the InstaFreebie emails and I'm going to see if I can put them in my iBooks because kindle just isn't trust worthy any more. Here's to ya Amazon! You can't make me dump my Free Books again! I just had to reinstall the Kindle App AGAIN. First, I go to turn a page of book, and it won't turn. Then I try to scroll down through my collections, and the App is frozen. But today I added some books and try as I might, I could not get them to download, even though my WiFi connection was working fine. In fact, I was at a doctor's office, so I had tried to download these books using 2 different WiFi networks to no avail. But when I reinstalled the Kindle App, the books automatically downloaded. What is up with Amazon? Not only do they have an inadequate App, but they have a corner on the market for most of the decent books. So people like me are basically forced to used the Kindle App and just keep downloading it over and over again. If I had a chance, I would move every single book that means anything to me to my iBooks app. It never crashes. Amazon should take a page from Apple's book. 01/14/17 My kindle app just started crashing repeatedly AGAIN. So here I am, reinstalling it AGAIN. What REALLY upsets me this time is that the book that I'm reading is one of my InstaFreebies. And there is no way to save my place in it. There is absolutely no use in calling Amazon. I think that they hire Special Education Drop Outs. I was having problems with the website a few months ago and one of their "techs" told me that the problem was in my iPad and told me to go to APP STORE to clear my cookies. I hung up on him and he called me back 7 times. I finally had to threaten him with harassment charges if he didn't stop calling me. If Amazon didn't have a monopoly on books, I wouldn't even deal with them. 2/19/17 I can't even count the number of times I have reinstalled this app. But since almost all of my books are from Amazon, I'm kind of chained to the kindle app. It takes forever to open, and is constantly crashing. 5/7/17 Kindle has made another "improvement" to this app, and it's driving me crazy. I have major anxiety issues and the one thing that really calms me down (since I have a lot former library experience) is to reorganize my books. Well, with their latest update, the kindle people have added an totally unnecessary step and made my calming exercise very frustrating. All I can do is to beg these people to change this back to way it used to be. Are you listening Kindle? 7/15/17 I've given the Kindle App one more star (to make it 3 stars out of 5) because of a recent change that they've made. It seems that Amazon may have been listening to me and people like me on this one. Whenever I have delete and reinstall my Kindle App, which is still frequently, I don't lose my InstaFreebies anymore because Kindle has started turning them into documents which re-download with the new install! Then I just have to tap "Docs" to get them all back. I don't know if this is a good thing or not, though, as it seems that Amazon has settled for sub-standard work as far as their app goes. I am happy that I will no longer be losing my free books! 9/25/17 Just downgraded the Kindle App to 2 stars. This is the second time in as many days that I have had to delete the app and re download it. Both because it refused to open up the book that I was reading. This is ridiculous. I think I’m being very patient just giving a 2. But I also think that I MAY start buying books on KODO’s app.

    Ever since I downloaded the latest version of the app and am using it to read .mobi that I have downloaded from my usual site, it is eating my battery alive on my phone! I used to go from 100% to perhaps 75% during the course of my work shift, but now I am lucky to have 35%! I'm positive it's this app, because on days I don't use it and just read online, I have much better battery. I still love Kindle, but not this app version!

    e-Textbook keeps crashing on current update! Does not let me open it. Idk if it’s the issue of the app itself or iOS 11

    The only thing I read about Kindle updates is reviews sorted by most recent. Every update breaks something and fixes nothing. Maybe I'll get lucky - I have in the past - but why take the chance? (Two stars instead of one because it has been known to work reasonably well in the past.)
  • Iphone 8 - not working

    I love this app - til i upgraded my iphone this weekend to an 8. Dont know if it ios11 or the new hardware but every time i try to open a book - regardless if i downloaded it before or after the upgrade cuz i tried both - the app shuts down. Help!!!! Update released later today 9/24 fixed the problem. Thank you!!!!
  • Constant crashing?

    This app used to be awesome. Just got a new iPhone 8 Plus, and now I can’t open most of my books - it just crashes every time I try to open a book.

    ios11, and its immediate predecessor, don’t fully support this app. Under Storage used tab, it doesn’t appropriately show the Kindle app data. Guessing problem is largely ios but kindle developers should be aware and working on this

    It keeps crashing and I can’t read on my iPad any more. New iPad running new iOS. It was fine on beta 11 but now that the final version is out it was crashing some but your new update is crashing non stop

    Before the update my kindle app was freezing. Now after the update it’s still freezing and it sometimes doesn’t even open or load books I purchase anymore. I the support for it is horrible and limited online. The support agents can’t really do anything and never know anything. I’m seriously thinking about switching to a different e-book provider.
