  • Great tool once you figure out how to use

    By Kam6864
This app has all the necessary tools needed to do some great geocaching. Somethings are not quite so intuitive, so it takes a little while to figure them out, but once you do it's great. Definitely more features than the old app. I definitely like the way you can use Google Maps to help guide you to the cache while driving.
  • Greed will get you no where.

I enjoy geocaching while out of town. I was so disappointed when I went out of town and was unable to geocache because my $10 app wouldn't work. I realize a few weeks later that there's a bug, and with google I was made aware that they now charge a yearly membership. I have been a loyal member since 2011. I guess I'll have to cut my losses and say goodbye to one of my favorite pastimes.
  • Not as good as the old app

    By JBlakeney
I stopped geocaching for about a year, simply because I hated the new version of the app. The screens are difficult to navigate back and forth through, the satellite map is awful (please bring back Google maps), and I can't see the artwork on my souvenirs. One thing that would be helpful is if you could make the coordinates of a cache clickable that would allow you to open the coordinates in Google Maps and obtain driving directions. Sometimes caches are far apart, especially in rural areas, so driving from one to another is necessary. I don't like how I have to look at the app's map navigation while I'm driving to a cache location. If not clickable directly into Maps, at lease allow the user to copy and paste the coordinates. And the fact that you are forcing users to pay for premium membership in order to view even basic difficulty caches is just awful.
  • Stupid $$$$

So sad to see this turn into an annual subscription money grab. Groundspeak developers need to realize this game is dependent upon the players who are now leaving in droves to because of this stupid move to a subscription plan. The devs should've just created a BETTER geocaching app than the old version (which this is not) and then charged a one time $10 purchase price for the new app, like they did for the original app. A recurring $30+ subscription cost? Stupid. Those who enjoy geocaching bring others to the game, buy premium memberships by their own volition, and spend even more on swag, trackables & accessories. I spent a lot of money, myself, on a bunch of travel bug tags that I’ve given to nieces, nephews, cousins & friends who I introduced to geocaching... but no more. You’ve lost my good will and support by killing an app we purchased and trying to force us to pay yet again... and again, ad infinitum. Nobody likes being coerced to pay for something, especially when we helped build it and supported you from the beginning. All you’ve managed to do is lose the respect and support of your user base with this bone-head move to a subscription service. You would have done much better if you just integrated the swag & travel bug store into the old app and dumped the subscription idea.
  • Get off the sofa and get outside---AND use ur brain!!

    By retired school nurse
My daughter and son-in-law opened the GeoCache world to my husband and myself. How great to have a 'reason' to Not go directly to a destination, get outside, move outside and THINK! Pretty cheap entertainment as far as we are concerned. Thanks for helping us stay physically and mentally active! Sure would be nice to see our Cache List from the phone.
  • The new app

I am beginning to like this new app. I wish there was a way to see PREVIOUS DNFs posted by me.

I can't believe that such an open and beautiful sport has been ruined by those running the show. Now you have to pay them to see higher difficulty caches that the owners themselves have not set explicitly as premium. Perhaps making a better product would be a more worthwhile business model than taking away basic functionality to get more money.
