NOAA Weather Alerts App Details

A simple yet powerful app that combines science with simplicity so you can be notified of real-time severe weather warnings that affect your locations. NOAA Weather Alerts has been updated for iOS 10 and beyond. With this major update comes a sleek new design, new alerts, and new weather radar. NOAA Weather Alerts sends you storm-based (or polygon) alerts via push notification so you can be notified of real-time severe weather warnings that affect your locations. Storm-based (or polygon) alerts help reduce false alarms from county-based alerts by alerting you to severe weather based on your exact location within a county. Why is that important? Because county-based alerts warn you even if your location in the county is not within the threatened area, effectively giving you a false alarm. Receive storm-based push notifications for 45 different types that focus on the most Severe Weather Warnings. View alerts on the weather map to see severe weather warning boxes where dangerous weather is happening. Tap the alert to view its info. • Tornadoes and Thunderstorm watches and warnings • Flood watches and warnings • Hurricane and Tropical Storm forecast tracks • Hurricane and Tropical Storm watches and warnings • Storm Tracks with detailed storm information (requires Future Weather in-app subscription) • Winter storm watches and warnings • Marine and coastal alerts New Layers on the weather map let you see recent weather activity from the last 6 to 12 hours. • Radar • Clouds • Clouds & Radar together • Wind Speed • Snow Cover • Temperatures • Water Temperatures • Road Weather • Earthquakes • Future Weather (in-app purchase subscription required) • Lightning Alerts and notifications (in-app purchase subscription required) Enhance your app with a Future Weather auto-renewing subscription for purchase within the app for $0.99/month. Future Weather lets you see: • Radar up to 6 hours in the future • Storm Tracks, that let you see how fast storms are moving and where they're headed • Temperature Forecast map up to 12 hours in the future Enhance your app with a Lightning Strikes auto-renewing subscription for purchase within the app for $0.99/month. Lightning lets you: • See lightning strikes on the map within 150 miles of a selected location • Receive lightning strike push notifications for your locations Please note the following about Future Weather's and Lightning's auto-renewing subscriptions: • Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase • Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period • Account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and identify the cost of the renewal • Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase • No cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during active subscription period • Privacy Policy: • Terms of Use: • Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable Additional features include: • Install and go, no complex setup. • Select opacity of radar images for your preference. • Near real-time, shows the latest radar images within minutes of being gathered. • Sharp radar images even on retina displays that show the latest radar images within minutes. • Get detailed and trustworthy forecasts for all your locations. • Check the current weather and forecast for any point on the map. • Bookmark multiple locations easy access to your favorite places. • Current conditions, hourly and five-day forecasts alongside detailed weather information, including pressure readings for all your locations. Using 2 other Weathersphere apps along with this one. All seem to be ok and warnings still come through in a timely mannr but no updates in almost 3 years? Maybe not since they sold out to Scripps. Is this app being maintained at all? Latest updates has taken away storm tracks Had it when purchased the app a couple years back Please give back what we paid for

What happened to being able to see the actual weather alert from the NWS? And how about them voice alerts? They are great for Halloween, but down right creepy in the middle of the night. A freeze warning at 4am, what the hell am I supposed to do with that info, put another blanket on the bed and go back to sleep? I had to shut off sound alerts for this app... can you guess why? I’m about ready to delete this app unless there are improvements. PLEASE restore the ability to select your own alerts and radius/distance. Otherwise this app is no better, probably worse than what is out there now.

New version stopped alerting and even showing that there were still active alerts from earlier. Needs some fine tuning. Tried several uninstall and reinstalls. This IS version 5.2.
  • Updated For The Worse

This app used to be a must have weather app. Having lived in an area which frequently experienced tornadoes, the ability to set warning radius set this app apart from other weather apps, and helped get our family to safety. With the latest update, it appears to have become just like every other weather app. I sure hope the developers will bring back the features of the old versions and I will update me review
  • So far not impressed with the update

By Will this do any good
Unless you make changes, the update to this app does not seem accessible for those of us that are blind and may use voice over. I don’t need the maps, or the radar. Previously, you could set the distance and a certain number of miles to get warnings. I got weather warnings for less than 100 miles which gave me all of the weather warnings for most if not all of the counties here in Arkansas. I don’t want just my county. This way if I get a warning A couple of counties away, I have an idea when the storm is coming to my area. You may not understand that and apparently neither does the National Weather Service but if you know your geography, you can have an idea when weather is coming to you. But so far, I am not impressed with this app and if it does not improve for those of us that are blind, I have to give it at the best one star maybe even zero stars. Very very very disappointed. I guess I need to start searching for a new Weather app which I really didn’t want to do. Since I first did this review a few days ago, I would like to make a bit of an update. They have made it somewhat more accessible and they are working on making it accessible for those of us that use voiceover. I really appreciate all their efforts that they are putting into this. I would now rate this three stars.

When I first got this app some time ago, you could fine-tune the kind of alerts you received and could get a special sound alert signal to get your attention. The map would have weather symbols on it that, if you tapped them, would give a narrative description. You could select a distance radius as a zone for notification. As time has gone by, and as the app has been updated, I have found it less useful. At this point I find it pretty much a vanilla app like a number I already have. It's sad to me to watch this app develop into something less. I used to depend on it. Now I have a good deal of uncertainty about it.

The iOS 11 update is fabulous! The developer has put many thoughtful details into this app. I will happily continue to rely on this app to keep my family and myself safe.
  • New update deleted best features

The app used to be in incredibly detailed and configurable. After the update it's no longer possible to select what type of alerts you want to receive for a selected location. Free apps let you customize at this level. I paid for this app because I wanted the ability to control what types of alerts I received for a particular location. Based upon the redesign, there's absolutely no reason to pay for this, since free apps give you more functionality and customization options. In all my years owning this, I've never once received a response to queries sent in to the app's support team.
  • Shouldn’t have updated...

Can’t pick which alerts to get after updating, took away functionality to offer a subscription service.
  • Stopped working with IOS 11.

I tried to open a Support ticket but they want way more information than I’m willing to give. UPDATE: New version starts up fine. Haven’t had a chance to get an actual alert yet but all seems well so far.
