The app is, overall, fine. Google’s Material UI looks out of place on iOS but that’s not the end of the world. What IS a big deal, though, is the complete lack of support for iPad’s split-screen and slideover features. This could be overlooked if these were new features in iOS, but they aren’t. At all. Other Google apps, like Docs and Sheets, support these modes (though it was a long wait) and it’s really inexcusable that Gmail doesn’t. The app also doesn’t have a watchOS version, which means that Gmail users have to resort to using Mail.app or a 3rd party mail app to use a Gmail account on watchOS. Finally, the swipe actions in message list views aren’t configurable like the ones in other mail clients. Swiping left or right on a message offers the exact same single action, rather than several. Yes, you can set that single action to be either delete or archive, but users can’t expose a menu of choices like they can in Spark or even Mail.app. These missing features prevent Gmail from being a truly great productivity app for Apple users.

It's showing I have 3 unread emails but there is not any there. But it's a great app.

This started happening in the past few days, I have a persistent 2 unread badge on the app icon even though I have no unread emails. Please fix this!
  • Notification problem.

Keeps telling me I have emails even though I don’t. Doesn’t matter what I do to the email I get. If I read them or delete them or whatever, when I exit the app it will still tell me I have an unopened email. Not even shutting down the phone will make it go away. And of course I don’t want to shut off notifications because that is the whole point of the app. Please fix!
  • Badge number error

Since installing iOS 11, the badge number reporting the number of unread emails is wrong. After I read my emails, the badge number should then disappear but it doesn’t. I have to reboot my phone and then reopen gmail for the badge number to be correct. But as soon as I get a new email and read it, the badge number is wrong again.
  • Good app

I would rate this a 5 but, I have a couple issues with it. One, it doesn’t always clear off the count after I delete an email. Second, I have a couple different emails that show in notifications but I have to go to my computer to read or remove them. If those two issues could be fixed, it would be a 5 star app. It is a good app though and I enjoy it.
