  • Never just works

    By nvrwks
The app never just works. It’s either doesn’t load or freezes up or crashes. I’ve never once just opened the app and it work with out glitches. Usually it takes about 3 open and closes before it will work.
  • On borderline of cancelling

    By dr street
I stuck with the Chronicle for 2 years, but the app keeps getting worse. Articles are hard to find. I hate the headlines which just guide you to a browser which brings up old news. Not in the same league as the Apple News app. Why don’t I just use it instead of the Chronicle. Stubborn I guess.
  • Much improved

    By spainchaud
Stories load very quickly now. Memory usage is greatly improved. For much of 2017, the app was using over 20 GB of storage on my iPad, essentially filling it. Now the app is using less than 100 MB, about a 200 times reduction.
  • Problems solved!

    By IlBerto1
I have given this app 1 star for a long time. The solution? Uninstall and re-install.
  • Better than it used to be

    By Jadesea
Not perfect, but better than it used to be. Uninstalled and reinstalled after the latest update and at least it doesn't crash constantly anymore. The "In Today's Paper" page is confusing, international stories are under Local News. Stories about Houston are under National. "Dear Abby" appears inconsistently. If you like Sports, I guess you're okay.
  • Mostly do crossword

    By SRS4166
I really enjoy the crosswords and do them every day. Sometimes frustrating how slow the app seems to be and the crossword page is error prone. Also sometimes the 'keyboard' wont come up or comes up wrong. So far I can restart it and it will come up second time. And, when rotating the crossword the iPad reverts back to its keyboard and have to restart puzzle to fix. This happened with my old iPad, but now happens with my new one too, so must be the app not the iPad.
  • They can do better

    By Texascoroner
Do the developers not review other newspaper apps to see how a good design is rendered? The information is so repetitive. Today for example in the “local news” section you have a story on Playboy Enterprises which is repeated again in the “business section”. This is very common. If you were to eliminate all of the duplicate news on this site it would contain only a third of the new stories. Content is out there people. I don't’ appreciate paying for an app that is so uncreative that it reposts the same stories, on the same day, on the same screen.
  • Not any better

    By mhicon
The entire reason why I get this online version is because I don’t get the paper version until up to 8am on weekends and 7:30 on weekdays. It should be here at 6am for early risers. The ap is hard to maneuver, have to log on several times and just a bad program. I would consider just going to the online version but it is so bad!
  • Too many pop ups

    By Spring, Texas man
Geez I am trying to read Houston news. I don’t need all the pop ups. Google, Amazon, subscription deals. Enough already.
  • Yet More Pay News

    By KoowanPStark
No free content at all. Pay up for crummy coverage, suckers.
