Dark Sky Weather App Details

Dark Sky can tell you at a glance exactly when it will rain (or snow) up to an hour in advance, so you’re free to walk the dog or run out to lunch and know you’ll stay dry. You can also explore the most beautiful weather animation you’ve ever seen, both forward in time or back. (Dark Sky is available in the US, UK and Ireland.) YOUR WEATHER, DOWN TO THE MINUTE Using GPS, Dark Sky is able to create forecasts for your precise location, giving you minute-by-minute predictions for the next hour and hour-by-hour forecasts for the next day and week. BEAUTIFUL WEATHER ANIMATIONS The same technology that powers Dark Sky’s predictions also allows us to make the world’s first perfectly smooth radar animation. Other apps show you a chunky slideshow that makes it nearly impossible to tell how storms are moving. But Dark Sky’s radar animation lets you see the actual path of the storm: how it moved in the past, and where it’s going in the future. PUSH NOTIFICATIONS Dark Sky comes with advanced notification options: Receive down-to-the-minute alerts before it starts raining at your exact location, get notified of government severe weather alerts (for such things as thunderstorms, flooding, hurricanes, etc), or even create your own custom notifications covering the next 24 hours for things like temperature, wind, precipitation and more. Even if you haven't opened the app in days, Dark Sky will tell you what you need to know, when you need to know it. TODAY WIDGET The Dark Sky Notification Center Widget tells you at a glance what's going to happen in the next hour and the next week, so you don't even have to unlock your phone to quickly check the weather before heading out. APPLE WATCH Dark Sky looks great on your wrist. Get notifications and check out the weather for the next week with the Dark Sky app built from scratch for Apple Watch.

  • Still the best weather app.

    By Zandoren
The overlords at 🍎 can try their hardest to improve their native apps and make third party apps open more slowly, but Dark Sky still reigns (no pun intended). UPDATE (11/23/17): I gave this app five stars for years for its quality. I’ve dropped my rating by two stars because I’m tired of the app telling me to enable location services. If I want to open the app without having to see and dismiss an error message, I have to completely close the app first (as in double-tap the home button and then swipe up on the app so that it’s no longer running in the background) and then reopen it. Every single time. This app and any like it ought to work as seamlessly for those who prefer not to enable location services as for those who do. Fix that problem, and my rating goes back up to five stars.
  • Best Weather App!

    By Qztbp
Easy to use, lots of details, small size, worth spending a few dollars over the other junk options out there!
  • Wonderful, when it works.

    By HevyH2O
This app has been my favorite for a very long time. The iPhone application has worked since first install without any noticeable issues. Now, the Apple Watch app/complication is great, when it works... This breaks far more often than I can really handle anymore. My primary use of the app is the watch complication only. I only check the iPhone app when serious weather is incoming. So at this moment, it is still the best weather app I have used to date. Just that the watch complication msg not work as well as the other. Your mileage may vary. For this reason I give it 2 Stars, as my primary method of use is once again not working. I will revise my rating when my experience changes of course.
  • Great

Picks up where you are at and tells what's happening in near future-love it
  • Great for rain updates! Crashes iPhone X

    By EbenRogers
This is the best for knowing about the rain conditions. Premium service and very accurate. Unfortunately, the IOS 11 on the iPhone X it crashes and refuses to open 50% of the time. Please fix. Thank you. Suggestions: More animations on the home screen for weather(ie; rain falling in addition to the small graph bellow. It would make this application a 5 and obviously addressing the crash concerns.
  • Keeps crashing

    By SurrealNYC
The app keeps crashing on launch. iPhone X with Apple Watch extension and complication installed.
  • Crashes on my iPhone X

    By Kingsbury
Worked great on my 6S. Just upgraded to an X and it crashes about 1 second after starting. Reinstalled, but still broken. It’s a great app when it works.
  • Crashes on iPjone X

Version 5.3.3 now crashes on iPhone X. It worked for one day, but now crashes each time I open it. Love the app and look forward to a fix.
  • Apple Watch temperature wrong

    By offdutygnome
I love this app and have recommended it to many friends. Definitely my go-to weather app on my iPhone. However, the Apple Watch app does not display the correct temperature on the watch face anymore. It has been stuck on 25 or 28 degrees for the past month. This is really annoying when looking at the watch on my way out the door everyday. I guess when it actually get down to 25 or 28 degrees it will be correct! Even a broken clock is right twice a day! Lol. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE fix the Watch app!
  • Temperature Very Inaccurate

    By Tyson0016
Occasionally the current temp is right but most of the time it's way off. Like, as much as 10 degrees off, while every other weather app I have is accurate to within a couple of degrees. I don't know where dark sky gets it's data but for me it's been totally unreliable. If they can fix this it will be an excellent app, but what good is a weather app that can't even tell you the current temperature?
