BrainHQ - Brain Training iOS App Details

Train your brain with BrainHQ from Posit Science—the most rigorous program available for better brain health, and the only one backed by more than 100 scientific papers showing benefits. Now with new features that contribute to your brain fitness success!

BrainHQ represents the culmination of 30 years of research in neurological science and related medicine. Top scientists from around the world helped to develop and test the BrainHQ exercises. The result: a training system that comprehensively improves brain function, from the most basic elements of perception through the most complex elements of memory, thinking, and decision-making.

No other brain fitness program can match BrainHQ in scientific proof. More than 100 publications from independent, randomized controlled trials have shown that the exercises and assessments in BrainHQ drive real change. These changes include: • functional changes, such as better memory and faster processing speed • real-world abilities, including safer driving and a lower chance of depressive symptoms • physical brain changes, like healthier white matter and more coordinated neurons.
All of this means that BrainHQ works—in laboratory studies, and in the lives of everyday people:

•"BrainHQ is a no-brainer must-have in my book…This training has expanded my visual, fine-tuned my audio and even my reflexes seem to be getting faster. BrainHQ is fun and gives me the challenges I need to keep my brain working out on a daily basis."    - C. MacDonald

•"Only a few months into the BrainHQ exercises the difference is clear, this isn’t left to speculation, I saw drastic improvements…and my family has noticed a strong improvement." -A. Amitrano

And leading publications agree: “Our testers concluded that Posit's product—one of the few so far to undergo clinical trials and peer-reviewed research—had the firmest scientific grounding.” - Wall Street Journal
The BrainHQ app helps you set and achieve your brain training goals—so it not only works, it works for you.
Each exercise adapts to your performance and gets more challenging as your performance improves, just like a personal trainer for your brain.
The training is designed to fit into your life: train for just 5 minutes in your spare time, or do a complete workout in an hour.
BrainHQ is a free download, and includes a core set of exercises that are available for free.

There are tons of "brain games" out there but BrainHQ is the only program with real science behind it.
  • Train to Optimize

    By AGus364
I try to set time to do this every day and I'm seeing results. It's just like working out. Need to do it often and if you do results are seen. Love it
  • Combinations/ permutations

I need to remember not to get discouraged.
  • Mixed review

    By Lissa Jean
I really like and appreciate the app! It does challenge me in the areas I really need the challenge. But I do agree with some of the comments I've read. It needs tweaking. The voice part of shovel before flower one drives me crazy, maybe that's part of my deficit, not sure, but it does. The facial recognition one I agree with the comments as well. But, all in all, I love the app and am grateful to have this tool to help me with My deficits. As for the charge, the more people that actual do support it, the more chances rather can improve the matters, just my thoughts.
  • How to play each level

    By C3bh
It would be a help if the instructions were more clear. It is difficult to play something when the instructions are not clear or the game just comes on and have to figure out which session is coming up to play. If decide to skip an exercise, the play starts completely over. Is this a glitch in the program? Automatically quit when this happens as you are telling me that what was done before has no meaning. The scoring is confusing. You take more points away than you give for a correct answer. Try to do that in the public school system and you would be in deep trouble. C3BH
  • Some activities better than others

    By GradStude
Some of the activities need a lot of improvement. The facial expression recognition activity is completely ridiculous and I highly doubt it would help anyone in any sort of real life situation. The people in the photographs are making overly exaggerated, forces facial expressions. This does little to capture the true psychology of emotion and micro expressions that people often miss. In fact, in some of the photos where people are supposed to be grimacing or making angry faces, you can see the "smile" in their eyes or that they are trying not to laugh. As other reviews have mentioned, the instructions are unclear on many of the activities. In general, most of the games could use minor tweaks and updates.
  • Great challenges and learning

    By cindifaith
I really like this app and I am navigating my way through it. Some exercises are more challenging than others which I appreciate. There is an occasional time where I don't quite understand the instructions so I don't think they are all written well, but I've managed to get through them and maybe that's a challenge in itself. It's worth a try I would rather do this then play a nonproductive game.
  • In app purchases to make your brain hurt

    By Stefan the dog
Before you can play the game, you have to sign up with your name and email address and...almost immediately after I tried the first exercise, I received an email asking me to sign up for a $14.95/mo. subscription. No thanks.
  • Very Good, Useful App

    By Rachel A. Clark
I think Brain HQ is really the best and most useful of all the brain-training apps I've tried using. What it has to offer for helping people/brains function better goes WAY above and beyond any others I've seen.
