  • Great for intro level vocab

I wouldn't give this 5 stars for those who are already at the intermediate level, but I used Duolingo for my first year of learning Spanish and it was essential for that level of learning. Very addictive and rewarding. For upper-beginners this is less useful, as there are only a handful of lessons focusing on tense and mood. The focus of this app is to learn the present tense and a lot of vocab. It deserves 5 stars because it's extremely good at those things, and you can always graduate to a more advanced app/class after mastering these lessons

This app is great! I’ve only been learning German for about three days now, and i can’t already say quite a bit. I think in a couple weeks I could probably have a conversation with someone, however broken it may be. The only reason I’m giving the app 4 stars is because it provides little to no explanation as to why you got something wrong, it just shows you the right sentence and moves on to the next thing, so it can be confusing. All in all it’s pretty good though!

This app is an awesome way to learn a language or get a head start. I’ve been learning Russian for months to be able to speak with friends, and I have made so much progress. Please add Finnish, I’ve always been interested to learn the language and visit the country, and i can’t find any other apps/programs that are as effective as Duolingo. Thanks man
  • The only thing I hate

The reason I gave a four star is wI hate that if i make a mistake and more after that I can’t continue my lesson. I have to wait for the lives to get filled. I hate that so much. Please change
  • I like it so much except for one thing.

I love it. In fact I’ve been doing really good learning how to speak Italian. One thing I do want to point out. I’m of a Latino descent from the North American continent. Spanish isn’t my first language but my family does speak it at home with my parents. I added Spanish so that I can freshen it up since my Spanish a bit choppy. But I notice the only Spanish that is offered on the app is from Spain and not from other countries. Spanish is one of those languages that have different dialects and that has many different words and vocabulary used differently in other countries. Some of the words I seen in the app are words that aren’t used in Latin American countries but I’m sure if I take a vacation and go to Spain I will know how to speak. I kind of wish the app would offer those dialects.

I really like the app and am learning a lot. But there are a couple of things I don’t understand. I might leave a level, having completed 10/15 but when I return the next day it will say 8/15. This happens a lot, sometimes during the same session. Also I have not missed a day in 18 days, but I changed my goal yesterday and now it tells me that I broke my streak. There is also a glitch when translating United States in Spanish. Sometimes it requires you to put ‘los estados unidos’ and sometimes it just wants ‘estados unidos’. I don’t find any consistency. That being said, I think it is a really good app.
  • Very well except for one thing

I just wish it had more languages like Tagalog or Filipino. Other than that beautiful app.

I have only been using for a few days now, but I love it so far. I have been working in Brasil off and on for a while now and can already speak the language well enough to communicate. I’ve never had formal lessons and have learned the language with the help of patient friends. The app is very helpful in improving my conjugation and improving my overall vocabulary. I wish I would have started using it sooner.
