We will put your call on hold and dial our recording line. As soon as our line answers tap the merge button on your screen to create a 3 way call between your other caller and our recording line. If you want to record an outgoing call, just press the record button. The app will dial our recording line and will begin recording as soon as our line answers. Once that happens, tap the add call button on your screen, call the person you want to record, then press the merge button when they answer. —————————————————————— Can I download recordings to my computer? Yes, and we've made it extremely easy to do this. • Bought Pro Version 3 yrs Ago, But Now Monthly Fees

I purchased the Pro Version of Tape a Call in May of 2016. It was a one-time fee of $10 for unlimited recordings. Fast forward to July, 2018: I just noticed a weird charge from iTunes for $4.23. After a little digging I learned that I have been charged a monthly subscription fee for Tape a Call since April! I never even got a notification or a chance to opt out. But even if I had, I still think it’s crappy to charge old customers subscription fees. The app works well. I’ve used it for research interviewing purposes and have never had any problems with it. But the new charges and lack of notification are disappointing. I won’t be keeping that subscription and I hope to get the 4 months of fees back. Let’s see how honorable they’re willing to be about that. So, BUYERS BEWARE!!!!

I got this because it said records inbound calls and it doesn’t it only works when your calling out to someone and initiate the call . What a waste of money and a lie.

It has two apps: the pro and the regular one. The regular one charges $2.08/per month that’s $24 for the year. Going back to the pro option it says that the Pro App itself is $10.99 to OWN. Which would you think was the cheaper option? Pro, obviously. So I paid $10.99 for the pro, when I opened the app it all of a sudden has an additional charge that says NOTHING ABOUT IT IN THE APPLE STORE of $1.69 (around that price) per month..why am I paying $10.99 to own an app and an additional charge to use it? Makes no sense, I hope Apple gets rid of this because it’s tricking people.
  • Very Honorable Company

I’ve been with these guys (and girls?) from the beginning. I purchased the pro version/upgrade to have unlimited recordings a long, long time ago. There are developers out there who push out new apps with each iOS upgrade and or abandon apps completely and create new ones so they can support a subscription pay model. I really, REALLY appreciate how the developers treat their loyal customers. I really appreciate how they have stuck with the original app and built on it - while honoring the promises they made to people who stuck with them years ago. It means a lot to me to know that my purchase made so many years ago is still upheld by them. I hardly use this app - truly I should be using it a LOT more. But when I do use it, I am so thankful about how reliable, easy and efficient this app is. Especially because it uses services to make it all happen. No the app doesn’t do it all. They have to pay to upkeep a service that does the magic and hard work. The app is just a pretty way to make it easy for us to use. The app itself doesn’t do the recording. So I appreciate that, despite fluctuating expenses, the company still honors their commitment to their long time customers and maintaining that truly unlimited recording feature we paid for. I would like to suggest adding a donate feature. I personally hate subscription models. But I would like to “tip” a little just to show my appreciation. Especially since there aren’t any ads, no annoying gimmicks or even any selling of info to 3rd parties. I like that it’s a pretty pure and simple app. It hasn’t changed and has always remained clean, simple and hasn’t compromised quality at all. What I like about the app itself? 1) the ability to turn off/on the beeping 2) the ease of using the app 3) the tutorial (because when you don’t use this for months at a time, you forget how to use this gem) 4) the ability to upload your recordings into Evernote and Dropbox 5) the ability to store recordings onto your phone and label them What benefit this app has given me that I didn’t expect? I know people use these sometimes out of necessity (like protecting themselves from a stalker or abusive ex). Or because their jobs are so confidential they require recorded conversations. But I like this phone because it allows me to capture memories with relatives and families. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard such sweet, rare and life-altering words come from the mouths of my family and friends. Words I wish I could cherish forever. Stories you’d never hear ever again. Jokes and moments when people open up. And when those people disappear from the earth and move on...it’s so nice to have these, well, relics of the past. Of them. And of that genuine life advice. Or moment when they dropped their guard and sounded human for just a few seconds. The app/service is really a great concept. And yeah, ironic because it’s a recording app. But... it can be used for good. Thank you for maintaining such a reliable service and honoring old policies. No matter how many times I may upgrade my phone or update my operating system, it’s so so SO relieving to know, I will still have my original purchase honored and have reliable service. I hope this stays around for a long time. Put in a donate/tip option in the settings menu. Keep keeping this app simple ;)

  • Started out well but having issues with dropped calls

As a journalist, I used to find this app very useful in recording interviews (obviously with the party’s consent) to transcribe later. Over the past month I’ve continued to have issues with this app dropping my calls. When I use the app during an interview, sometimes the audio on my end will cut out. The app keeps recording the interviewee, but I cant hear anything. I have to hang up and call again. This happened twice over one interview today. I’m switching to a more traditional recorder so I wont have these issues in the future.
  • Frozen and so frustrating

I was really excited to update this app to the newest version and finally be able to record incoming calls. Well, now I’m stuck on the page that asks me to consent to terms of service and privacy policy. I needed to use this app, which I paid $24.99 for, and I especially need it TODAY for an important call and it’s useless at this point. I’m so disappointed and can’t even figure out how to cancel for next year now because it’s completely stuck.
