  • Expect to pay

The app helps especially with niche languages that Duolingo doesn’t have, for example, Portugal portuguese. Yet, what they offer you to check out is only temporary. You will have no choice but to purchase the app if you want to try out more which I find to be unfair. Duolingo doesn’t even do that. Makes me wonder if they are passionate about helping people learn languages or in it for the money. You don’t get past basic words like, Hi/Ola, Let’s go/Vamos La and Goodbye/Adieus. I need to see more than just a couple of basic words to know if this works for me and to purchase. It’s upsetting. Also, their app profile on apple I just realized said a year free trial but it still wants to charge my card. I’m interested to learn more but the billing and payment is shady. The UX design also needs work. While you are trying to learn a language they have a button on your main interface asking if you want to explore another, it shouldn’t be there.
  • Great App

I love that the app gives you general words and phrases that you would use in an actual conversation instead of words you wouldn’t regularly use, I also like that you learn harder words and phrases as you get more and more skilled at the language you chose.
  • Service is basically perfect, app broken

    By blueXenologer
App is broken on iOS for user-created courses. They claim to have fixed this bug, closed the issue thread for it, and it's still not fixed. Too bad, because this service is the best way to learn ASL I've found; I just have to go through a browser window. Yes, I've filed a bug report, but they've known about this for months. Just use the website I guess. Signed, a lifetime pro member

This app really helps me to type Chinese! I am Chinese but I can’t read or type Chinese so I decided to type it instead of reading it! I hope you can add English because my mom doesn’t know English so she needs to learn English from this app! Please add English in this app soon! I love this app!

  • Would give 5 stars, but...

I’m learning Korean and this app teaches me the vocab and verbs I need to know. But, it doesn’t really teach the conjugation and how to conjugate verbs into different endings. It would really help for there to be an explanation, maybe at the bottom or something, but otherwise, 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • So-so

    By Skittlfram
I am learning some words and terms on here so far, but one glaring mistake of the course is that when something has two words, for example, cestovný lístok (meaning 'travel ticket), sometimes it will only say the first word and sometimes only the second. Never both together. That isn't good when the question is purely audio but you only hear half of the word. With single words, the longer they are, the less likely you'll hear them spoken, and only sometimes. I'm sticking with the course because I am learning, just not like I had hoped.

I used to use Duolingo...then I found Memrise. Way more opinions and different avenues to help you learn your new desired language. Plus, their app update descriptions are sure to give you a laugh! Try it before you dismiss it. God bless!
