Pure, the hook up app App Details

Get down on the DL with someone fancy in your neighborhood. Like … now. Pure is for when you’re looking for an after-dark adventure, not a relationship. It’s quick, direct, and discreet. With Pure, your private life stays private. No social media links. No email addresses. We provide end-to-end encryption and automatically delete your chats. Upload a selfie and match with somebody who turns you on. Chat for an hour tops (your convo disappears after that). If you’re both feeling it, it’s adventure time. You must be at least 18 years old to use Pure. PURE uses auto-renewing subscriptions — you have to subscribe to get inside. Here's what you should know about PURE subscriptions: - If you choose to purchase a weekly ($14.99), monthly ($29.99), 3-month ($49.99) or annual ($69.99) subscription you'll be able to post meeting requests and interact via chats with the other users who are online during the chosen subscription period. - All subscriptions renew automatically, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current subscription period. - Auto-renewal can be canceled at any time by going to your settings in the iTunes Store after the purchase. - Your free 3-day trial of the one month subscription, if proposed, begins when you subscribe for the first time. - If not cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the trial period, the cost of the monthly subscription will be automatically charged to your iTunes account. - If you purchase a subscription during the trial period, the unused portion of your trial period will be forfeited. - All personal data is handled under the terms and conditions of Pure’s privacy policy. • A work in progress

Pure has a lot going for it. While it’s not perfect, the design and technology behind it is certainly good enough. It’s not buggy. It does exactly what it’s trying to do. However there’s a problem. There aren’t a lot of users on it (tried this in Seattle and San Francisco). There’s an option for a free trial, and this is great. There’s no surprises about what you’re going to get. However the subscriptions are priced pretty steeply, and I think most users are only in it for the trial. You need to charge users to create a barrier for spammers that would otherwise take over the system, but that barrier should not be a price substantially higher than Netflix or Spotify. Those services even provide you access to content. This one just gives you access to a community. Maybe Pure has done some research that shows this price point is the sweet spot, but my intuition is that casual or curious users are priced out. Update: the developer reached out to me, and following our conversation, I can tell that they are really trying. It is very encouraging.
  • Time pressure to exchange numbers

Just the transparency of what it is used for. There is no secret. Just people looking to hook up if they hit it off and are near to each other. I like meeting people. I travel a lot. It's a quick way to chat to open people. If it leads to meeting and maybe some nights of mutual fun, then that the best.

I get an adrenaline rush from the experience of being with someone I just met. Really, what makes it exciting for you? It's nice to map it out a little with someone in advance so you're expectations are clear. It's similar to what I get as a performer on stage. It's both empowering and vulnerable at the same time. So what is intriguing to you about that...the mystery, anticipation, adventure? All of those thngs absolutely, the risk making and taking. Seriously I was a serioius relationship guy for so long, I didn't know I had it in me. But you live and you learn, and maybe someday I will be again. So what is the "it" you're referring to? It's "the wild side"..... I'm a very dependable guy in most other ways and rather conservative in some ways as well. How has expressing this wild side impacted other parts of your life? I know myself better and i know what I want and like and I'll ultimately make a better partner to someone someday. Me: Yes because you'll be your authentic self.... Him: you got it. When I finished school, I was obsessed with getting to know myself, my nature, what my tendencies were. I read a lot which helped. But ultimately you have to experience things for yourself and couple that with what you read, you form some sort of profile of yourself.

  • The app is great.

It's great that you see the thumbnails on a map. Why is that a good thing? If sone's actually interested in meeting, it's helpful to know if it's logistically possible.
  • #1 app

  • Such a great idea, bad execution

    By LucrioLucretius
I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'd love to commit more time and money to this app but as it is, it's just too expensive and not well marketed. Get more people to use the app and bring prices down, for god's sake, and the latter will help the former.
  • Not worth it

    By stefanschaefer
Interesting idea, but too expensive for something with such a small user base. During my trial I only saw one other person, 350 miles away. Expected to at least see people in Tampa or Orlando. Looking at other reviews it seems like even big cities have this problem. You need to make this free and figure out another way to monetize it if you expect it to succeed.
