The League App Details

Equalist. Not Elitist. See our mission statement at bit.ly/leaguemission So you want to date someone that shares your same education level AND ambition/drive? And maybe, just maybe, you'd like them to be in your same neighborhood, attractive enough to at LEAST look good in a black-and-white photo, with a height that meets your way-too-restrictive height preferences. Perhaps you also want them to share your religion as well. While your mother may call you picky, we call you self-aware. It's about to be happy hour, so go get 'em. #singleisin #neversettle League users now have the option of becoming a member by purchasing a yearly subscription for $199/year (equivalent to $15/month). This membership offers extra perks, customization, more prospects, invites to exclusive events, and is auto-renewing until cancelled by user via iTunes (or settings). Users who wish to cancel their subscription must do so at least 24-hours before the end of the current period . • Scam

The only good thing about this app is that you can filter on height, but basically they scam you every way possible - I even referred a friend which is supposed to result in a free "ticket" which is barely worth anything but the link did not work when she signed up and now they are offering to mark my endorsement of her in the profile but not give me the ticket. Obv not worth it. Also the verbiage and interface is so bro-y it hurts and the trips and add ons they try to pitch are so lame. A ski trip to Aspen for $4K?!? 😂 I skied Japan and Chile for a week less than that. You could literally ski the alps for that amount of money. So ridiculous and most of the people at the events aren't even worth paying to meet. Save your time.
  • They are baiters!!! Don’t ever use this app!!!

I signed up to use this app in mid May of this year and waited about 3 months to be accepted. At first I was not very enthused about the app because once I was accepted, there really was not much offered. They promise you 2-4 possibilities per day yet fill up you “batch” with advertisements for League events instead. Nonetheless, I barreled through ever so often and even started to connect with a few prospects. Considering that the quality of prospects were better I even referred many of my friends and family to use their service. That is until 2 days ago when with our notice they froze/suspended my account. At first I thought I thought I violated some rule in their terms of service. So I reread the entire thing to see what possible fault of my own was made. I even sent a message to their “concierge” (I guess a robotic support messenger) in hopes to get a better understanding as to why this happened. Today I finally got back a response that stated: “Thanks for writing in! HQ did make the decision, after sending out their message on Wednesday, to make our service a pay-to-play platform. Since you had been using our service and used the League Tickets provided, but had not contributed monetarily, they have now frozen your account. You can 100% come back into the fold with a Membership though. I wish I had any say in this, and let me know if I can answer any questions about Membership!” This was baffling to me considering that the tickets I used was presented to me as they called it “a gift”. This was the message that they sent me offering this ticket: Happy Holidays! I have a gift for you, and a somewhat awkward request 😬. As a thank you for being an awesome active user, I’ve gifted you a free EXTRA BATCH (redeem by happy hour Fri Dec 15). Based on your historical likes, I have a strong feeling you are gonna like who I put in there for you :) Use the 2 League Tickets for your Extra Batch here: league://interstitial/extraBatch To highlight the biggest deception — “as a thank you for being an awesome active user, I’ve gifted you a free EXTRA BATCH”. Except it only cost me my membership for redeeming because as the stated in the other response, my account was frozen for using it and not “contributing monetarily”. I of course called them out on the BS and informed through their robot messenger that I will be more than happy to let everyone know NOT to use them. These guys are baiters and obviously don’t care to be honorable in their offerings and own terms of service. I happy to say that I am no longer a member of this app and encourage those of you considering to join to not waste your time!!!

been on the app for a few months, not too many matches but I wasn’t expecting too much knowing that it’s a smaller population than other apps. Wednesday this week - got a message from the concierge saying they were gifting us two League tickets to use, which basically gives you an extra batch of people for that day. In the same message, they said they’re struggling financially and are asking all guest members to CONSIDER getting the $200 annual membership. I used one league ticket that day, and of course did not sign up for membership. The message did not say anything about guest membership going away. Thursday - I open the app, in hopes of continuing a conversation with a match that started earlier that week. The app said “Party’s Over. Gotta pay to play”. My conversation and previous matches were gone. A twitter search showed that this happened to others too. Friday - I messaged the concierge and the reply was that HQ had decided to make it a pay-to-play platform and that because I used the league tix and didn’t sign up for a membership that my account had been frozen. So either guest membership is no more, or your guest membership can be revoked for no reason. Nothing up front said that guest membership was a trial. But this app is most certainly not worth $200 (which by the way is not a monthly subscription. It’s an annual fee) The concept is okay but the business model is poorly executed.
  • Scam!

There is no app dating service in the world worth $1000/year. If your app is as great as you advertise, I should find a perfect match within moments of signing up. Not having to pay $90+/months. Apple should take you off the App Store.

This app just wants your money. You wait on the waitlist to get in to be a guest for a limited period of time before you are hit up for money. It's only if you pay $199 that you are elevated to member status. The reason the League even allows people on as guests is so that they can pad the number of options for paying members. Once they realize you're not going to pay you get a pretty straight-forward message: "Party's Over. You've Gotta Pay to Play." Your account is deactivated, yet the app keeps all of your information. There's no option to delete it. The concierge and support email are non-responsive. So they'll continue using your profile so that members are essentially fed no longer active accounts. Pretty bad. Yes, all these apps exist to generate revenue but this one is just a joke built on a rather flawed business strategy.
  • False Advertising - Very Disappointed

I started on The League hopeful. I waited six weeks on the waiting list, with a VIP ticket before given entrance. As soon as I was in, I sent my VIP ticket to a friend who was let in two weeks later. I began receiving my matches, and after a month failed to connect with more than one person. I spoke to the “concierge” and was given an additional “batch” as a thank you. 24 hours later, my account is no longer active and it says I have to “pay to play.” I followed the rules as an active non-member: I signed in every day, I responded to my one match, I brought in another participant, and I joined groups... now I’m being forced to pay. VERY disappointed. I realize everything is a business, but when you offer free services as long as folks follow “the rules,” I would expect an organization to adhere to them. Kicking me out with no warning, and no response from the “concierge” is bad business.
  • No longer free, not worth paying for

League just killed the ability to use it as a free app. So now it's tinder/bumble/jswipe except you have to pay $200/year to use it. Hard pass
  • $999 Really! Money-making MBA app developers

The app developers basically don’t care about giving a love dating app, they just want you to subscribe more than $200 per month and in some cases $999. ????? Wow this is stupidity No kidding but it’s just a money making app playing by showing only few alternative. Delete app!
  • Terrible money-making racket for women by women.

This app continues to ask for money to establish and maintain membership. Worse, female members are given priority and can eliminate male members for any reason, such as not finding someone compatible. It’s a money making scam and Amanda (founder) should be ashamed for the gender bias and poor treatment of members.
  • Ridiculous

I've been using this app for 7 months. I've gone on a couple of dates and had a few good conversations with some good people. Today I log on to a note saying "party's over. Gotta pay to play." I've essentially been thrown off with no explanation. I hope that this is a mistake because it's ridiculous that I've been a good member of this community for almost 8 months and I get thrown off like that.
