App Reviews

  • Wonderful enhancement to Web experience

Paid apps often have the uneven ratings distribution you see here- lots of 4- and 5- star ratings for the app itself, 1-star from people who didn't understand or like the pricing. Judge the cost/value for yourself, knowing that use of this app is included with a times digital sub and ties in beautifully with that experience. The app is lovely, recipes easy to find and use, and for me the editorial quality is perfect. My favorite food writers are here. I'm always inspired by the suggestions. If I don't know what to cook I can always turn to my recipe box.

Nearly all of NYT’s cooking at your fingertips. What’s not to like?
  • Recipes great; website awful

I have found gems to cook among the NYT recipes but the app is clunky and frustrating. You can’t print, you can’t filter, if you save a recipe it difficult to find again without lots of time consuming scrolling. The website version is slightly more user friendly. What a pain.

I have almost stopped using my many cookbooks. This has everything. I especially love the instant pot recipes.

A lot of work goes into these recipes. I am grateful for the efforts of those who perfected them.

If you're like me, and look forward to the Food section of the NYTimes every Wednesday, this app is for us! I’ve been on since day one and love this app. An issue with logging in now, if I’m logged in to NYTimes it’d be nice not to have to log in continually to NYT Cooking on the same device. Should be linked and recognize me immediately as a subscriber to both.
  • Very useful, versatile

I appreciate being able to filter by all kinds of categories of food, recipe, or even author. The search engine works very well too.
